I've looked everywhere but can't find the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for an atricle I need to cite, does it have one?

Increasingly some citation formats, professors, and grant applications want a DOI for any article cited, but not all articles have them.

Not every article will have a DOI.  While the use of DOIs is increasing not all publishers use them, or are requied to do so.  Also, DOI numbers have only come into wide spread use over the last 5 to 10 years, and most articles published before this time will not have DOI numbers.
